SOSC 2840 9.0A - Film and Society

So far, so good. The class seems interesting thus far.

Yesterday, we watched Drums Along the Mohawk (1939), starring Claudette Colbert as "Lana Martin," and Henry Fonda as "Gilbert 'Gil' Martin." I found the movie to be rather trite, mostly boring, and thoroughly racist. The synopsis is as follows:
Young farmer Gilbert Martin and his bride Lana marry shortly before the revolutionary war starts. They settle in Upstate New York and settle their homestead when the war begins. For the next six years Gilbert fights in the war as he and Lana try to establish their homestead.

Anyone else out there have the displeasure of viewing this film, please leave your comment. If you liked the movie, please elucidate.
